Embark on a transformative 8-day journey with Global Exchange as you join us for a People-to-People Solidarity delegation to Cuba. Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Cuban life, fostering connections and deepening your understanding through meaningful encounters with individuals from diverse sectors.
You’ll have an opportunity to engage with Cuban professionals and individuals from various backgrounds. You’ll delve into Cuba’s web of economic intricacies by meeting with an economist and discussing the profound impact of sanctions on various facets of the Cuban economy and what efforts are being made to meet these challenges.
Journey to a poly clinic, where you’ll gain valuable perspectives on healthcare systems and how Cuba provides care for its people. Meet with professionals working with the LGBTQIA Community. Gain insight into Cuba’s historic literacy campaign and what their current day Education system and pedagogy looks like.
Immerse yourself in the vibrant tapestry of Cuban culture through visits to community projects, cultural spaces featuring dance, music, art, and religion. Experience the heart of Cuban agriculture at an organic farm, witnessing sustainable practices and understanding their significance.
Through these diverse encounters, you’ll forge connections, broaden your perspective, and contribute to a global exchange of ideas and solidarity. This journey promises to be a unique blend of education, cultural immersion, and the forging of meaningful connections with the people of Cuba while also bringing much needed humanitarian supplies to help support the Cuban people during these difficult times.

- Group arrival in Havana, welcome at airport by guide and driver.
- Welcome Lunch
- Continue to Habana Vieja, a designated UNESCO Heritage site. Enjoy a walking tour of the three main plazas; Plaza de las Armas, Plaza Vieja, Plaza del Catedral, Plaza San Francisco de Asís.
- Check-in at casas or similar economical accommodation
- Welcome dinner at La Torre

- Breakfast at your place of accommodation
- 10.00am We’ll meet with renowned Architect Miguel Coyula to discuss architecture, history and development of the city of Havana.
- 12.00pm Lunch at Corral Falso Community Art Project followed by a tour of the project to learn about their work in the community.
- 2.00pm Tour of the newly renovated Capitol building

- 9.30am Visit to the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) an NGO responsible for fostering people to people diplomacy through solidarity with groups worldwide. They are your host institution while in Cuba. Here we will discuss US and Cuba relations, politics, etc.
- 11.30am Next we’ll visit CENESEX to learn about their work in Cuba and with the LGBTQ+ community. They will also speak on the more inclusive changes to the family code.
- 1.30pm Lunch at El Biky Restaurant
- 3.30pm Visit to Callejon de Hamel, an artistic Afro Cuban project in the Cayo Hueso neighborhood to learn more about Afro-rooted faith traditions.
- 5.30pm Return to the hotel

- Morning visit to Cuba Libro, a socially responsible local community development project serving as a coffee house and English-language bookshop. Here we will enjoy a beverage while we learn about their role in the community.
- While here, we will meet with Economist Jorge Mario. Jorge is going to discuss with us the realities of the Cuban economy including challenges and triumphs, the impact of migration, remittances and MYPIME’s (small business enterprise).
- Lunch included, location TBD
- Visit to a MYPIME called Classic Car Collective where they work to rehabilitate old cars for current day use. At the end of our visit we’ll take a spin in the beautiful cars.

- 9.00am Visit a polyclinic to learn more about the delivery of healthcare in Cuba.
- Following this we’ll visit with Cuban doctors belonging to the Henry Reeve contingent to learn about their work in other countries and impacts of recent US regulations.
- 12.00pm Lunch at Fabio Restaurant
- 4.00pm Return to the hotel
- Meeting with representative from Belly of the Beast Journalism outlet to learn about their work as an independent journalism outlet.

- 9.00am Visit to the Literacy Museum to learn about the literacy campaign as well as more about Education in Cuba.
- 12.00pm Lunch at Habana 21
- 2.00pm Visit Centro Martin Luther King to learn about the work and projects they have in the community.

- We will reconvene after dinner to enjoy an evening of Renowned Cuban Jazz at La Zorra y El Cuervo Jazz Club.
- Breakfast at your place of accommodation
- 9.30am Visit Organic Farm Granjita Feliz en Guanabacoa to learn about organic sustainable agriculture and its importance in the community.
- 11.00am Visit Almacenes San José Artisant market, a shopping center of small businesses selling artwork, folk art and Cuban Handicrafts.
- Return to the hotel to prepare for return to US.
