As the global shift to clean energy accelerates, so does demand for the minerals that power it—lithium, cobalt, nickel, copper, and others. These so-called “critical minerals” are essential for electric vehicles, solar panels, long-duration batteries, and more. But how they’re sourced matters!
Global Exchange is proud to be partnering with the Trade Justice Education Fund and the California Trade Justice Coalition to promote and screen their short documentary CRITICAL MINERALS.
Join us next Wednesday, April 23rd, at 5:30 PM PT / 8:30 pm ET for the online premiere of CRITICAL MINERALS, a short documentary that asks a big question: Can the green energy transition be just and sustainable? This 12-minute film explores the growing fight to ensure that labor rights, Indigenous sovereignty, and environmental protection aren’t sacrificed in the name of climate action.
A wave of new U.S. trade agreements designed to secure mineral access are currently being negotiated. These deals could advance shared climate and job creation goals or deepen extractive, exploitative supply chains with devastating impacts on frontline communities and ecosystems. We must ensure that all Critical Minerals Agreements prioritize labor, environmental, and human rights (including free, prior and informed consent) throughout the supply chain.
Following the screening, stick around for expert insights and live Q&A with producer Mira Rubio of the California Trade Justice Coalition and others who are shaping the call for a global, rights-respecting clean energy future.
RSVP today to receive your Zoom link and help build a clean energy transition rooted in justice—not extraction.
