This is Part 6 in an 8-Part “Giving Thanks” series, a Global Exchange exclusive highlighting individuals (chosen by Global Exchange staff members) who are contributing to our social justice work in some way. This series will culminate with a “Giving Thanks” video to be launched right here on Wednesday, November 24th. So please join us in recognizing those special individuals who are helping to make this world a better place.

Global Exchange stores have been around since 1989, when we opened our first door in San Francisco. Since then, we’ve expanded to include locations in Berkeley CA, Portland OR, Washington DC and Arlington, VA. Our Online Store opened its virtual doors in 1999 and our wholesale program now supplies many other Fair Trade stores around the country with socially responsible products from around the world.

Global Exchange Fair Trade Stores generate income for thousands of artisans and their families in about 40 countries, by operating according to Fair Trade Criteria.

All of this would not be possible without the loyalty and support of one special group of people: our Fair Trade customers!

Jocelyn Boreta, Global Exchange Fair Trade Stores Program Director & Buyer, had this to say about Global Exchange Fair Trade store customers:

Thank you to the customers who have made it a habit to support Fair Trade at our Global Exchange Fair Trade Stores. You are the reason we are able to support and celebrate grass roots crafts-work and economic justice around the world. Your Fair Trade purchases continue to grow the systematic change that allows village based enterprise to support healthy, happy families and communities this holiday season.  Thank you for continuing to give the gift of Fair Trade!

To all of you who choose to purchase Fair Trade products, thank you. Every purchase does matter. We hope you continue to spend wisely this holiday shopping season. Here are two easy ways to do so:

1. Check out the Give Fair Trade Holiday Challenge to take your Fair Trade Holiday Gift Pledge.
2. Use Fair Trade Federations’ Fair Trade Gift Guide for a well-rounded collection of holiday gift ideas.

Who are YOU thankful for? Add your own thank you message in the Comments section to recognize someone you think is doing great social justice work. And if you feel so inspired, Retweet and Share this post to help spread the recognition all of our ‘Thankees’ deserve. Thank YOU.
