Join us for a panel discussion featuring gun violence survivors, Indigenous, and Afro-descendant leaders from Mexico and the US. They will share their stories and discuss their fight to end violence in the Americas.

This event is part of a series of activities, including lobby visits, a congressional briefing, and more, focusing on the shared root causes of violence and introducing the Binational Agenda for Peace and Justice.

Panelists include:

  • Cristina Bautista, mother of Benjamin Ascencio, one of the 43 disappeared students in Ayotzinapa, Guerrero (Mexico)
  • Gregoria Flores, Garifuna leader (US/Honduras)
  • Iakowi’ne’he Oakes, North American Indigenous Center (US)
  • Members of Black Lives Matter South Bend (US) and the Alliance in the Defense of the Land and Autonomy (Mexico)

This summit represents the first time victims of mass shootings from Uvalde, Sandy Hook, Ayotzinapa, and other regions will gather in Washington, aiming to transform the narrative and policy towards common-sense regulations.
