Guardians of Democracy Youth Summit: International Perspectives For Empowering Youth

What does it mean to be an active citizen in a democracy? Too often, young people are told that politics is something that happens to them rather than something they help shape. The Guardians of Democracy Youth Summit challenges that idea by bringing together young people with democracy advocates, organizers, journalists, and civic leaders from around the world who have worked to strengthen democratic participation in their own communities, often under difficult circumstances.

Join young adults and community activists in this interactive workshop.  Through personal stories, shared discussions, and hands-on leadership experiences, participants will explore how ordinary people can influence public policy, organize around issues they care about, and create positive change in their communities. The summit will encourage youth to see themselves not as passive observers of government and civic life, but as stakeholders, leaders, and problem-solvers whose voices matter.

As young Americans confront questions about democracy, representation, and the future of their communities, these international perspectives offer valuable lessons in civic courage, community engagement, and collective action.
