View this webinar for an update on the Central American refugee caravan.

We have asked four allies of Global Exchange to discuss the realities behind the caravan, what it reveals about longstanding policy failures and how to seize back the human narrative from those, like President Trump, who are scaremongering using lies and threats.

Speakers include:

Miroslava Cerpas, of CIPRODEH (Center for the Investigation and Promotion of Human Rights) of Honduras will address the role of United States policy in Honduras and the region and how it has contributed to the violence, poverty, and political desperation that triggered the Caravan. She will speak from Honduras.

Rodolfo Cordova Alcaraz of the Metropolitan Consulting Group is a specialist on Mexican immigration policy. He will inform us about how Mexico has responded to the challenges of the Caravan, what options it has going forward and what impact it may have in the context of Mexico’s long political transition — a new Mexican President takes office December 1. He will speak from Mexico City.

Oscar Chacón of Alianza Américas — a leading voice on Central American migration to the US for decades. He will address the crisis leading to the formation of the Caravan and its implications within the US political context, including mid-term elections. He will speak from Chicago.

Sara Gozalo, organizer and supervising co-coordinator for the city-based New Sanctuary Coalition, an interfaith network of congregations, organizations, and individuals, standing publicly in solidarity with families and communities resisting detention and deportation in order to stay together.
