Overview
Join us as we celebrate New Year’s in Cuba and the 65th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution!
On this incredible journey, we’ll immerse ourselves in the beauty and energy of the cities of Havana and Trinidad. We’ll spend our days exploring and enjoying people-to-people exchanges with Cubans in various community projects, meeting small business owners, we’ll ride bikes, visit an urban garden, tour the fine arts museum with a specialist and then celebrate the New Year and Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution with a lovely dinner and music! On New Year’s day we’ll make our way to the Spanish Colonial town of Trinidad, a designated UNESCO Heritage Site. While in Trinidad we’ll stroll the cobblestone streets and learn about arts, culture and the rich history there. We’ll also visit the town of Santa Clara to tour the Che Guevarra mausoleum and monument. We’ll also have a unique opportunity to visit a community gathering where we will meet with Cubans in their neighborhood to learn about how they organize at the local level to support one another and more; many find this to be the highlight of their Cuban experience!
After Trinidad we’ll make our way back to Havana, with a stop en route at Playa Giron also known as the Bay of Pigs, to learn of the important historical event that took place there as it relates to the Revolution followed by a stop at the Cienega Zapata Mangrove to learn of some of Cuba’s important preservation efforts of flora and fauna. Once we land back in Havana we’ll spend our final days immersed in cultural visits along with an exchange with an educator who was instrumental in the historic Literacy Brigades.
