No War on Iran. It’s that simple.
People in the United States overwhelmingly oppose sending bombs, planes, and troops into yet another conflict—with 85% of adults in one survey saying they do not want war. That’s a truly staggering level of opposition in a deeply polarized country.
There is no justification for further escalation or the rejection of diplomacy, and the public isn’t buying the bluster and lies emanating from a Trump administration growing more unpopular by the day. War is an expensive, deadly disaster—costly for both the victims and the aggressors.
We do not want U.S. tax dollars used for death and destruction instead of healthcare and housing. When it comes down to it, the elites don’t care about us—only about their own interests, no matter the cost to everyone else. The “Big Beautiful Bill” making its way through Congress is deeply unpopular as well, threatening cuts to SNAP and Medicaid to give yet more tax breaks to the obscenely wealthy. Turns out people are seeing through the lies—and they don’t have much love for this Giant Ugly Mess. The Republican-controlled Congress and the President, everywhere you look, are stripping away vital social services and making decisions that harm ALL OF US.
The struggle to keep the U.S. out of war and the struggle to keep our neighbors safe and healthy are not separate struggles; they are one and the same. Every dollar spent on bullets is a dollar unavailable for affordable housing or rebuilding crumbling infrastructure. It’s good business for defense contractors and their lobbyists in Washington—for the rest of us, it’s a deadly racket.
We’re up against a corrupt coterie of elites who want to use every lever of power at their disposal to further their own interests, no matter the cost to the rest of us. And make no mistake: the violence and repression funded abroad rebound domestically in ways both explicit and subtle. We cannot engage in endless war around the world without bringing the war home. The military has already been called into U.S. cities to quash opposition to ICE’s masked kidnapping squads. War abroad, war on the streets. War is never the answer!
The struggle for democracy in the United States runs through the effort to oppose the escalation of this war. Right now, the Trump administration is dropping bombs without Congressional approval, in violation of the law—yet one more instance of a regime unbound by the Constitution or the restraint of co-equal branches.
It’s up to us to make sure that one person does not get to make decisions for all of us.
No War on Iran.
