Support Democracy in Haiti

In 2021, hundreds of thousands of Haitians put their lives on the line to demand an end to the dictatorship of Jovenel Moise. Yet in February, the first action of the Biden administration in relation to Haiti was to announce that the U.S. government would support Moise remaining in power until February 2022.

The Moise regime represents a continuation of the U.S.-orchestrated 2004 coup that ousted the democratically elected government of President Aristide. As Haitians rise up once again to demand democratic governance, security and economic and social justice, Global Exchange and the Haiti Solidarity Committee echo their call.
