Guns exports from the U.S. to Mexico are part of the vicious cycle of the drug war. Thousands of assault weapons are purchased legally in the U.S. and smuggled to violent criminals in Mexico every year. But as the longer article in this newsletter notes, guns sold legally to Mexico’s Armed Forces (licensed by the U.S.) are also part of the problem.
