Trump’s speech last night in Phoenix, Arizona reminds us why we need to stay united and fight for justice in our communities, both north and south of the border.
Last night Trump threatened to shut down the government if he doesn’t get his Wall funded. He says he’ll probably “terminate” NAFTA. And he suggests he’ll pardon Sheriff Joe Arpaio — who was convicted for racist profiling of immigrants in direct violation of a court order.
Last April, the Caravan Against Fear — a beautiful gathering of workers, immigrants, and allies — traveled over 1,500 miles from California to Texas to share strength and a message of resistance with communities all along (both sides of) the US Mexico border.
The idea a Trump style wall offends our values and we should resist it just as we resist the KKK, Nazism, and all other un-American and anti-democratic tendencies that are emoldened by Trump.
Trump (as well as Presidents Clinton, Bush and Obama — who all built sections of border wall) should give great thanks for the valuable labor of
Mexican immigrants who have driven US economic growth in recent decades. Instead, Trump looks to scapegoat and punish them.
Help us: Resist the Wall, Resist Trump’s corporate NAFTA dealing, and Resist the militarism and moral travesty of Trump’s presidency.
