Halloween? Check. Thanksgiving? Around the corner. Then come the holidays, which sneak up fast. (Faster than you might think…did you know the first night of Chanukah falls on Thanksgiving this year?!)
Here at Global Exchange, we know there are lots people who agree that the holidays should not be about commercialization and corporate sales and profits. So we believe it’s time to take back the holiday season.
As retailers kick off the holiday shopping season on “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday”, Global Exchange will be joining thousands of partners in the US and around the world to jump start the giving season with #GivingTuesday, which falls on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
#GivingTuesday™ is a campaign to create a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season. It celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support nonprofit organizations.
Global Exchange will be proudly participating and we hope you will too, so we’re calling on you, our community, to join us and get involved.
Get Involved!
Soon we’ll be announcing our #GivingTuesday plans right here on our People to People blog, so stay tuned for that, and if you haven’t subscribed to our blog yet, now’s a great time to subscribe so you receive updates as they happen. In the meantime, remember to Save the date: December 3, 2013.
If you know of other nonprofit organizations you think should get involved, spread the word!
