Gandhi once said “First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win.”
They’re trying to ignore us right now, but we’re making it hard. A group of committed demonstrators have locked themselves down, blocking the Chevron entrance.
The coalition here today has members from all over the world: Burma, the Phillipines, Ecuador, Richmond, Nigeria. All from communites damaged by Chevron’s activities.
What we want from Chevron is really simple. We want them to accept responsibility for the damage they’ve done, to respect the rights of affected communities and to take seriously the need to move away from fossil fuels.
