Defending Our Democracy: Community, Voice & Participation for All

Defending Our Democracy: Community, Voice & Participation for All is a full-day, family-friendly gathering that brings together community members, civic leaders, youth, nonprofit organizations, and international democracy advocates to explore how we strengthen democracy through participation, dialogue, and collective action.

Hosted by VOCAL-KY as part of the Democracy Defenders Roadshow, this nonpartisan event will feature a film screening, expert panel discussions, civic engagement training, a resource fair with more than 25 organizations, youth programming, childcare, and Spanish-English interpretation. Participants will have the opportunity to connect across issues, learn from local and global leaders, and discover practical ways to become more engaged in shaping the future of their communities.

As the United States approaches the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, this event will create space for meaningful conversations about trust, representation, civic participation, and community leadership. Together, we will explore how everyday people can strengthen democracy, build bridges across differences, and ensure that all voices are heard.
