Journalism at Risk

Freedom of the press is core to any functioning democracy, and in both the United States and countries in Latin America, that freedom faces serious threats.

Visiting Chico on the Democracy Defenders Roadshow, Ernesto Ledesma of Rompeviento TV, Mynor Alonzo, and Omar Gómez Trejo will share experiences from Mexico and Guatemala of how truth gets to light in the face of corruption, violence, and repression. 

Alongside our guests, members of the local journalism community will share their experience of success and difficulty in the current media environment of the United States. 

The event will be bilingual English/Spanish with interpretation provided.
