We urgently call on the Honduran government to respect the vote and provide full transparency, credibility and legitimacy in all aspects of the process. In the context of the post-electoral crisis and alleged fraud, we demand that the Honduran government refrain from acts of repression, violation of rights, censorship or criminalization of protest. We commit ourselves to monitor the situation closely, using all international legal tools available to assure respect for the human rights of all and a continued commitment to dialogue, democracy and non-violence.
We also call on the U.S. government, other governments, the OAS, international finance institutions and civil society organizations to support the Honduran people in defense of dialogue and democracy.
