Virtual Journey to Ecuador with Yury Guerra

Thank you for tuning into our first Virtual Journey to Ecuador! In this episode we are joined by Yury Guerra, Ecuadorian organizer, activist and coordinator of our Ecuador Reality Tours.  Take a listen as we discuss how COVID-19 is impacting Ecuadorian Indigenous communities, the ongoing struggles against mega-corporations and ways you can support the Ecuadorian people during these difficult times.

Since 1988, Reality Tours has provided a way to build people-to-people ties that enhance understanding and unity around the world. And while our trips are currently suspended due to COVID-19, our work to build global solidarity continues. We are working with partners to ensure that when we are able to travel again, Reality Tours will return as the strong educational opportunity for social activism they are respected for. In the interim, we continue building out new, future delegations with our global partners. It is likely that our future offerings will evolve to include an understanding of our new realities.

While we are grounded, we will keep you connected to the communities we visit around the world through these Virtual Journeys.  We will visit our partners and community organizations, hear about their experiences, their work, and priorities, and how we can continue to support them during these difficult times.

Great interview! Thanks to Yury Guerra for the useful information and for teaching us about the atrocities perpetrated by Chevron in the Amazon.
I’d like to get in touch with Yury because I’ll be traveling to Ecuador in the next few days. Please send him my email.
