Is Oil Addicts Anonymous For You? At this moment people all over the world (though mostly those in the "Global North" with incomes in the six figures and fancy titles like "CEO of Ford Motor Company") are thinking that O.A.A. won't work for them. They say things like - "O.A.A. won't work for me. I'm too far gone," or "It's nice for those bike loving hippies, but I'm President of the United States. I have to support the people that got me elected."
We at O.A.A. believe petroholism is an addiction that affects everyone of any age, sex, race, class, or occupation. It is a disease that strikes all of us because our society is set up to feed the addiction. Only you can decide whether you want to help save yourself and the planet. If you do, we suggest you take a stand and give O.A.A. a try. We who are oil addicts are coming together because we finally have to admit the damaging consequences that our addiction is having. We need to admit we will never be able to guzzle safely. We know that not only is our addiction hurting our loved ones -- by polluting the air, causing asthma and cancer rates to skyrocket, but it is also hurting people around the world. Our addiction is melting the ice caps, endangering our nation's security, creating conflict in foreign countries, and destroying ecosystems. Most importantly, it is also putting our children's future at risk and that we cannot tolerate. Now that we admitted our addiction we are hearing from others. People all over the planet are also looking for a way past the feelings of guilt and shame. We are all looking for ways to end the addiction. We have decided to try and address head-on the disastrous consequences of what oil addiction has done to our lives, the lives of our loved ones and the planet.
