How has the US Occupation in Iraq impacted Iraqis & neighboring countries? Under what conditions do Iraqis enter & live in Jordan & Syria? What services are provided? How have Palestinian refugees from Iraq been affected by the war? How have Palestinian communities in Jordan & Syria been affected by the influx of Iraqis? What do Iraqis think of the United States and prospects for reconstruction?
Join peace and justice activists on a delegation to Jordan and Syria, neighboring countries to Iraq. Meet with Iraqis to hear first-hand accounts of conditions on the ground; talk with them about their view of the American occupation and prospects for reconciliation in post-occupation Iraq. Learn about the political situation in both Jordan and Syria by meeting with academics, activists, business people and humanitarian relief workers, hearing their various perspectives on the status of refugees and the role of the US government in their countries. Understand the dynamics between the recent Iraqi refugee population and the existing Palestinian population from the 1948 and 1967 wars.
