End Support for Militarization of Drug War

US support for a primarily military strategy to combat the criminals who supply U.S. drug consumers has been a terrible and tragic mistake. Despite official claims to the contrary, the intensification of military tactics is at the root of the escalating bloodshed.   
Global Exchange has documented and warned about the growing influence and involvement of the U.S military in Mexico since the 1990s. The publication of our ground breaking study Always Near, Always Far; the Armed Forces in Mexico in the fall of 2000 brought much needed attention to this.
Recent media reports of growing U.S. military involvement at the operational level in Mexico make clear the need to reign in this misguided policy
