Store Manager

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • 2 years of retail management experience
  • Ability to lead and to work as part of a team
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong sense of design established through merchandizing
  • Knowledge of Fair Trade and demonstrated interest in international and human rights and social justice work
  • Highly motivated and creative
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Flexibility; ability to work in a multi-cultural and diverse environment
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Quickbooks Point of Sale and Accounting Pro systems
  • Ability to work weekends and commit to extra hours during the Christmas holiday

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Management of small team of sales/support staff
  • Strong communication with customers, store staff and program director
  • Leadership in customer service and sales
  • Maintenance of store policy
  • Ability to address customer and store staff grievances gracefully
  • Deep knowledge of product and understanding of Fair Trade
  • Management of receiving and overall responsibility for inventory
  • Vendor relations
  • Accounts payable/receivable
  • Direct communication with store buyer with strong ability to report on sales
  • Management of store budget and strong understanding of Profit and Loss Reports
  • Purchasing of supplies
  • Employ successful tools to minimize loss of inventory
  • Creative implementation of sales and marketing plans
  • Management of customer list and product request log
  • Strong merchandizing of product
  • Creation of product signage
  • Contribution to store blogs, e-blasts and social media outreach
  • Planning of special in-store events and promotions
  • Overall store maintenance and housekeeping
  • Physical labor of lifting boxes, climbing ladders and moving furniture
  • Coordination with Global Exchange campaigns and major events such as Green Festivals, Human Rights Awards and Open House

 

This is a full time position. Must be able to work weekends. Must be able to commit to extra hours during the month of December. Salary negotiable based on experience.
