Based on Journalist Juan Gonzalez's book, the film Harvest of Empire.

It looks at the role that US military actions and corporate interests played in triggering waves of migration from Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America. Featured are interviews with such notables as Nobel Peace Prize winner Rigoberta Menchu, the Reverend Jesse Jackson, ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero, and Pulitzer Prize winning writer Junot Diaz.

A discussion and update will follow about the current status of both federal and California State immigration reform.

This event is sponsored by the Task Force on the Americas. A $5-10 donation is suggested. No one turned away for lack of funds.
