India : The Gandhian Legacy Reunion Tour

December 02, 2010 - December 13, 2010

The Gandhian Legacy 2008-09 Photo by Garth Dyke

Leading this unique reunion tour to India are Dr.Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, and his son Tushar Gandhi. Join Global Exchange on this once-in-a-life-time opportunity to hear Dr. Gandhi's first-hand personal stories about his grandfather and to retrace the footsteps of the great teacher of Satyagraha - non-violent direct action.

The itinerary of this delegation it is designed to go to other Gandhi Centers in India that were not covered in the traditional Gandhi Legacy Tour.

This is a continuation of the learning experience, of understanding Gandhi, of experiencing the changes that transformed him from Mohands to Mahatma and, most importantly, to visit the ashram where Dr.Arun Gandhi lived with his Grandfather for those fateful 18 months that gave him an insight into the person and his philosophy. We will see and experience the simplicity of his life and Dr. Gandhi will share once again all the lessons that the Mahatma taught him on the spot.

Dr. Gandhi is a retired journalist, having written for the Times of India for 30 years. He is a tireless activist for peace, conflict resolution, prisoners' rights, and is a much sought-after speaker. This tour will also show you how Gandhian principles are applied today in conflict resolution situations and sustainable development projects, despite persistent poverty and inequality in India.
